And then COVID happened, and we all found something to do…
Cross Stitch Life
What is Cross Stitch? As shown above, cross stitch is a type of sewing where embroidery floss is used to create little Xs on a woven material called Aida. A pattern is used to indicate what colors and stitched where, and voila! You end up with a pretty picture.
I was excited to change up the routine. It didn’t bother me to be stuck at home. And I just ignored all the people who were freaked out about ‘the virus’ and getting sick and possibly dying. I walked to our backwoods store for eggs and milk occasionally. I’d go to Walmart and not wear a mask, because it wasn’t required in MS, at least not at first. And for some reason, I thought picking up cross stitch again would be fun.
The first project took me a year to do (that’s the one pictured above, so you can see, it was alot of work and lots of red). The second one, two years! But that was because COVID wasn’t causing us as many problems anymore and life was returning to normal…so my time to stitch decreased. But as I ended the second year, I made the commitment to really make it a thing, and this past year, I did two small/med projects (kits I bought at Walmart or Hobby Lobby), finished the second project, and started one LARGE project. I found a way to make patterns from an image so I already have another LARGE project waiting on the sidelines.
In the last year, I’ve had a Hooks and Needles Club that meets at my house once a month. And sitting to cross stitch is one of my favorite things. And hopefully, I’ll have lots of photos to share with you as the years go by!
